Where's My Tesla J1772 Adapter?

I’ve been trying to locate my J1772 adapter for my Tesla, and I’m getting a bit worried. It seems like it should have been included with the delivery, but I can’t find it anywhere.

Here’s what I’ve checked:

  • Delivery Box: I went through all the packaging and checked the compartments, but no luck.
  • Trunk and Frunk: I double-checked both the trunk and frunk for any missed spots.
  • Home Charging Setup: Looked through all the charging gear I have at home, but it’s just not there.

Could anyone share their experience? Did you get yours with your Tesla, or was it an additional purchase? If you’ve experienced something similar, how did you resolve it? I really want to ensure I have the adapter for charging at public stations since I’ll need it for road trips.

Thanks for any help or tips!

I’ve misplaced my Tesla J1772 adapter too! Have you checked under the back seat or in the trunk? Those are common hiding spots for charging accessories.

Good suggestion! I also found mine once in the garage, stuffed in a box of other car accessories. It’s worth rummaging through those.

Organize your charging accessories in a designated bag or box! That way, if you lose something, you’ll have a better chance of finding it next time.

I had the same issue! Once I even left it at a public charging station. It’s worth calling any stations you frequent to see if someone turned it in.

That’s a great idea! I hadn’t even thought of that. I’ll give it a try.

Did anyone consider that some Tesla models come with their own adapters? If yours is one of them, check your owner’s manual—it might already be in the car.

Such a good point! I always overlook the manual. I’ll look there next.

If you can’t find it, a replacement isn’t too expensive. Just ensure you get one that’s compatible with your model.

That makes me feel a bit better! I’ll keep that in mind as a last resort.

Anyone figured out the best way to store their J1772 adapter? I feel like there’s no perfect solution. I end up losing it all the time!

Same here! I sometimes wonder if it’s a conspiracy to keep us on our toes. :joy:

I keep my adapter in a small tote bag that hangs from the headrest. It’s out of the way but easy to access when needed!

I wish I’d thought of the tote bag idea! I’ll be copying that next time—I need to be more organized.

Reflecting back, I lost my first adapter for weeks before finally finding it in a picnic basket. Now I’m paranoid about where I put mine!

That’s hilarious, but also relatable! It’s those random spots that can be surprising. Keeping a checklist for your charging accessories might help too.

I’ve been using my Tesla J1772 adapter for months now at various charging stations. It works great at most public chargers! Just make sure to check if the station is compatible before you plug in.

That’s good to hear, but what should I do if I encounter a charging station that doesn’t seem to work with the adapter?

If a station isn’t working, try checking if it’s on the ChargePoint network or others known for compatibility. Sometimes, it’s just a software issue on the station’s end. I’d suggest using apps like PlugShare for station reviews!

That’s a good tip! I often forget to check those apps before heading out. How do you actually use the adapter once you’re at the station?
