I’m planning a trip to Flagstaff and really want to know the current traffic conditions on I-17 North.
Are there any road closures or delays I should be aware of?
Is there ongoing construction that might slow things down?
What’s the weather like up in Flagstaff these days, and could it affect the drive?
Any tips for avoiding traffic jams?
I’d appreciate any updates or advice from those who’ve recently traveled the route. It would help me plan my departure time better!
Traffic on I-17 North to Flagstaff can vary a lot. Generally, it’s heaviest on weekends, especially during ski season. Right now, I hear the road is pretty clear, but always check for updates before heading out.
Thanks for the heads-up! I’m planning a trip this Saturday. Is it usually really bad then?
Ashley, Saturday traffic can get packed, especially around 4 PM. I recommend leaving earlier in the day if you can.

…especially around 4 PM.
Good to know! I’ll try to get an early start then. Any incidents I should know about?
There was a minor accident reported last night near Camp Verde, but it should be cleared now. Always a good idea to check the traffic cams.
What’s the best app for real-time traffic updates? I want to make sure I stay informed while on the road.
For real-time updates, I love using Waze. It has live traffic info and alerts for incidents along the route.
Waze is great, but I’ve noticed it sometimes routes you around the longer way. Just keep that in mind.

…I love using Waze.
I’ve used Waze before with mixed results. Does anyone use the AZ511 app? I heard it’s pretty reliable.
AZ511 is legit! I’ve found it to be pretty accurate for road closures and ongoing construction.
I always dread the holiday traffic on I-17. Last year, it was a nightmare! Hoping for smoother travels this time.
Right? I feel like every holiday is a gamble with traffic. I hear you on that!
If there’s one thing I learned from last holiday season, it’s to snack and have music ready. Makes the wait less painful!
And maybe pack a book or some games! But hey, it can’t be worse than last summer when I got stuck for hours.
You got that right! I think we have all learned patience on the road!

I drove I-17 recently, and it was a nightmare! Have you considered taking back roads? I suggest Route 89 to avoid congestion.

That’s a great tip! I’ve also heard Route 64 can help bypass the worst of I-17 traffic. Anyone tried that?
Route 64 does work well, especially if you leave early in the morning. The scenic views are an added bonus!

I usually avoid the 17 on weekends. It gets crowded fast! Anyone have experience with back roads like Lake Mary Road?
