Upgrading My Tesla Model S Speakers - Recommendations Needed!

I’m looking to enhance the audio experience in my Tesla Model S and was hoping to get some insights from fellow owners. I’ve been researching various aftermarket speaker options, but there seems to be a lot out there, and it’s hard to determine what’s the best fit.

Here are a few things I’m considering:

  • Speaker Brands: Any recommendations? I’ve heard good things about Focal and JL Audio, but I’m not sure if that’s the right choice.
  • DIY vs Professional Installation: Is it worth attempting to install the speakers myself or should I just go for a professional service? What was your experience?
  • Audio Quality: For those who have upgraded, how big of a difference did you notice? Any tips on achieving optimal sound quality?
  • Budget Considerations: What kind of budget should I be looking at for a decent upgrade?

I’d greatly appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or links to guides that the community can share. Thanks in advance!

I recently upgraded my Model S speakers and went with the JL Audio C2-650x. The sound quality is phenomenal! The bass is deep, and the highs are crystal clear. Highly recommend them!

Sounds great! I was looking at the Focal PS 165 FX speakers based on their reputation. Anyone have experience with them?

I installed Focal PS 165 FX last month. They sound amazing! Perfect for the Tesla’s acoustics. Definitely a strong contender for any audio enthusiast.

Focal has consistently good reviews. Did you tune your system afterward? Makes a huge difference!

I’m considering the Infinity Reference 6030cs. I’ve heard they integrate well with Tesla systems. Anyone tried them out?

I have them in my Model S! They sound solid! You won’t regret the upgrade. Just make sure you have a good amp too.

How about the Kicker 43CSS654? I’ve read some people love them for their punchy bass. Could they compete with the Focal?

I had Kicker speakers before switching to Focal. Kicker has great bass, but Focal is way more balanced. Depends on your sound preference!

Good point! I’m looking for sound clarity, so Focal might be the way to go for me.

I’ve been using Hertz DSK 165 speakers, and they’re a fantastic middle ground! Great soundstage and they’re also reasonably priced.

I’ve always considered Hertz but never tried them. What’s the bass response like?

The bass is solid but not overwhelming. They have a smooth response across the spectrum.

Just a word of warning, installing some of these speakers can be quite the DIY project if you’re not familiar with car audio systems.

Exactly! It’s like building IKEA furniture—minus the helpful instructions! [laughs] But definitely worth it for great sound.

Do you have any tips for the installation? Especially for those not too experienced?

Just take your time and watch some YouTube videos on the specific models. Having the right tools helps a lot!

Upgrading the speakers in your Tesla Model S can significantly enhance your audio experience! I suggest looking for high-quality component speakers for the best sound. The installation process requires some basic tools, like a screwdriver and trim removal tool.

That’s so true! I upgraded my Model S speakers, and it was worth every penny. Just be careful with the wiring; it can be a bit tricky.

If you’re considering DIY, make sure to check out some video tutorials first. They really helped me understand the process better. Also, watch out for warranty concerns with aftermarket parts!
