Need Help with Polestar 2 Charge Port Issues

I’ve been experiencing some challenges with the charge port on my Polestar 2 and was hoping to get some insights from other owners.

Here’s what I’ve encountered:

  • Charging Speed: Sometimes it feels like it takes longer to charge than expected, even with a fast charger. Is this normal?
  • Connection Issues: Occasionally, the charger doesn’t seem to connect properly. I have to wiggle it to get a good connection, which is frustrating.
  • Error Messages: I’ve seen a few error messages pop up on the display while charging, and I’m not sure what they mean or how to fix them.

Questions:

  • Does anyone have tips on how to best maintain the charge port?
  • Any guides or resources you can recommend for troubleshooting these common issues?
  • What kind of charging stations have you found to work best with the Polestar 2?

I’d appreciate any advice or shared experiences! Looking forward to hearing from you all.

I’ve been having issues with the Polestar 2 charge port, especially with some public chargers. I’ve heard they can be a bit finicky. Has anyone else experienced this?

I totally get that! The compatibility with various charging stations can be hit or miss. Some Type 2 chargers work great, while others do not recognize the vehicle.

You might want to check the firmware updates for your car. I’ve read that some people found improved charging compatibility after updating. It’s always good to stay current!

Has anyone tried using an adapter for different charging stations? I’m curious if they actually work with the Polestar 2.

I’ve used a Type 2 to CCS adapter, and it worked fine for me at most stations. Just be careful with lower quality adapters, though.

I found that home chargers with a higher kW output really help speed up charging. Does anyone have recommendations for specific brands?

Definitely! The Wallbox Pulsar Plus has been great for my Polestar 2. Compact and efficient!

I’ve been using a ChargePoint home charger and it’s pretty seamless. However, just make sure to check the specs to avoid any surprises!

Does anyone know if local charging stations keep certain types of connectors? I’ve seen a mix, but it’s pretty inconsistent.

The inconsistency is frustrating! I’ve found that urban areas typically have more CCS and CHAdeMO stations compared to rural areas.

I agree with schavez! If you’re in the city, you generally have better luck. It’s the rural spots where charge port issues seem to be more apparent!

Wait, I heard that not all charging stations supply enough power for the Polestar 2. Is that true? Anyone have specifics on this?

Yes, definitely! Always check the station’s output. Some older stations might not keep up, which can lead to prolonged charging times.

I thought being an EV would mean seamless charging everywhere! It’s a bit comical how often that isn’t the case. But at least we’re learning, right?

Right? It feels like we signed up for a tech revolution only to deal with old-school issues. But hey, that’s part of the journey!

Reflecting on my experiences, I’ve found that a good charging plan goes a long way. Always have a backup charger in mind just in case!

I’ve been having some trouble with my Polestar 2 charge port too. Can we discuss the different charging speeds from Level 2 and DC fast charging?

Level 2 home charging usually provides around 11 kW, while DC fast charging can hit about 150 kW! Huge difference in charging time.

Exactly, john29! I’ve noticed that at home it can take around 8-10 hours for a full charge on Level 2. But with DC, you can get a solid charge in about 30 minutes!
