Michelin Primacy vs CrossClimate 2 - Which Should I Choose?

I’m in the market for new tires and can’t decide between the Michelin Primacy and the CrossClimate 2. I’ve heard great things about both, but I want to make sure I choose the right one for my driving conditions.

What I’m Considering:

  • Handling: I do a mix of city driving and some highway trips. I need something that can handle well in both settings.
  • Durability: Longevity is key. I want a tire that won’t wear out too quickly.
  • Weather Suitability: I often drive in wet conditions and occasionally in light snow. Which tire would perform better in these scenarios?
  • User Ratings: What do other users have to say about their experiences with these tires?

If anyone has insights or personal experiences with either tire, I would greatly appreciate your advice!

I’ve had the Michelin Primacy on my sedan for over a year. They handle well in dry conditions and provide decent traction in light rain, but I wouldn’t trust them in heavy snow. Comfort-wise, they’re fantastic.

I switched to the CrossClimate 2 last winter, and I was amazed at how they gripped the snow. They felt much safer compared to my old Primacy tires.

Interesting point, connergregory! The Primacy does excel in responsive handling on dry roads, but in wet conditions, I found them a bit lacking. Anyone else noticed this?

I’ve also driven on Both. The CrossClimate 2 really shines in adverse weather, but I’ve noticed they are a bit louder than the Primacy on highways. Comfort-wise, there’s a trade-off.

I’d say the Primacy isn’t great in the rain; I felt skittish on wet roads. The CrossClimate 2, on the other hand, has really stable wet handling.

I have to add that the CrossClimate 2 were a game changer for my winter driving. The grip was excellent; I didn’t slip once in snowy conditions!

For me, the Primacy has the edge in overall comfort, but I agree with brandttiffany about the CrossClimate’s snow performance; it’s hard to beat.

What about tire wear? Do either of these tires last longer? I’m looking for longevity.

I found the Primacy to wear well over time, but the CrossClimate 2 seems to have a similar lifespan. Hard to tell without more data though! Anyone keeping track?

I’ve been tracking my tire wear for a while. The CrossClimate 2 is holding up well, and considering how much I drive in rain and snow, I’d recommend them for durability.

My CrossClimate 2s have outlasted my previous tires by a long shot! I would estimate about 50,000 miles and they still have decent tread. Just be sure to check the tread regularly.
