Anyone else unable to charge their Chevy Bolt?

I’ve been having some frustrating issues recently with my Chevy Bolt where it just refuses to charge. I keep getting this error message that says ‘unable to charge,’ and I’ve tried a few different outlets and charging stations. Here are a few things I’ve tried:

  • Checking the charger: I made sure my charging cable is in good condition; no visible wear or tears.
  • Resetting the car’s system: I disconnected the battery for a few minutes to reset everything and see if that helped.
  • Trying different stations: I thought maybe it was just a problem with my home charger, but I also had no luck at public charging stations.
  • Software update: I checked if there were any available updates for my Bolt, but everything seems up to date.

Has anyone else come across this issue? What did you do to resolve it? I really want to get back on the road without these charging headaches. Any tips or similar experiences would be super helpful! Let’s share our solutions and troubleshoot together!

Has anyone else been having trouble with their charging stations lately? I can never seem to charge my Chevy Bolt at the public stations around my area.

I’ve had similar problems! It’s so frustrating when the stations are either out of order or don’t support the Bolt. What issues have you faced exactly?

Alas, the struggle is real! Sometimes my home charger just refuses to work, and I feel like it’s possessed. Have you checked if the charger is compatible?

I’ve noticed that my charging cable has started to fray a bit. I wonder if that’s affecting the charge?

Frayed cables can definitely cause charging issues! I usually carry an extra one just in case. It’s a pain, but it helps to be prepared.

I need to get a spare too! I had no idea fraying could stop the charge completely. Have you found any good brands?

Noticing frayed cables is a total red flag, but also check your outlet! I had similar issues and found out it was a faulty outlet causing the problem. Might save you some headaches!

Interesting point, Mary. I didn’t check the outlet! I thought it was just the charger all along. Could it be a conspiracy between charging stations and faulty outlets? Hmm…

Haha! I wouldn’t go that far, but it sure feels like something is working against us Chevy Bolt owners. At least we have each other to commiserate with!

For real! The other day, my car was hooked up for hours and went from 10% to 12%. Is it just me, or do these chargers have a vendetta against us? :joy:

This happens to me all the time! I think I need to start looking for more reliable charging options. Any recommendations?

I’m having the same issue! My Bolt won’t charge at all and it’s so frustrating. The battery is really showing signs of degradation.

Have you checked if there are any software updates for the battery management system? Sometimes those glitches can cause charging issues.

I had a similar problem. It turned out my charging cable was defective. Definitely check yours!

I didn’t think about updates! I’ll check the app now. Thanks for the tip!

The battery degradation can be a real issue in older Bolts. I’m curious how long you’ve had yours.

I’ve only had mine for 2 years, but I’m already seeing reduced range. Maybe that’s affecting charging speed as well.

That’s definitely a possibility! High discharge rates can prevent proper charging. Have you contacted Chevrolet about this?

A reality check here: the Bolt battery management system is quite sophisticated but not always reliable. It feels like a software issue to me.
