Anyone else excited for the Electrify America free charging weekend?

I just found out that Electrify America is hosting another free charging weekend and I can’t wait to take advantage of it! It’s a great opportunity to save some money on charging costs, especially during holiday weekends when I’m more likely to hit the road.

Here are a few things I’m curious about:

  • Reliability: Has anyone experienced issues trying to find a charging station that actually offers free charging during these events?
  • Locations: Are there specific stations that are better than others for this free charging? I’d love to hear your recommendations!
  • Tips: Any strategies for making the most of the free charging? Maybe charging during off-peak hours or planning routes better?

This free charging initiative is such a win for EV owners, and I’m all for leveraging every opportunity to maximize the electric vehicle experience. Let’s share our thoughts and experiences as we gear up for the weekend!

Same here! Last time, I barely had to wait, and the fast charging was a game changer for my road trip. I hope the lines are just as short this weekend.

I participated in one of their free weekends last month and was impressed by the charging speed. My only concern was that some stations were already full. Just plan ahead!

Good point, Amanda! I recommend downloading the app so you can check station status before heading out. It helped me during my last visit!

I wouldn’t say there was too much wait time at the stations I visited, but I did hear some people complain about certain locations being crowded. What has been everyone else’s experience?

I had to wait about 20 minutes at my local station last time, but it wasn’t too bad since there were plenty of other EV drivers to chat with!

I’ll be using the stations this weekend too! I have heard mixed reviews on charging speed. Can anyone tell me what chargers they’ve found to be the fastest?

The 350 kW stations are definitely the quickest! I was able to charge from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes!

I remember my first free weekend, and it was an adventure! I forgot my charging cable at home and had to wait for someone to offer me theirs—it turned into an unexpected social event!

Haha, that’s hilarious, Jill! It’s great that charging can lead to making new friends. Anyone else have tales from past weekends?

Some of my friends were disappointed about the wait times and congestion. I’m thrilled for the free charging but a bit nervous about the chaos it might bring. Any tips to avoid long waits?

Try going early in the morning or later in the evening! I found that the busiest times are usually during the day. Good luck!

I’m super excited about the Electrify America free charging weekend! It’s a perfect opportunity for those of us with EVs to hit the road and encourage more people to consider electric vehicles.

Absolutely! This weekend could really boost EV adoption. I mean, free charging? It’s hard to say no to a chance to explore new places!

I was hesitant about electric cars before, but I’m thinking about renting one for this weekend. Free charging makes it a lot easier to give it a shot!

That’s the spirit! A weekend like this could really change some minds about EVs, especially for new users.

I think these free charging weekends can definitely influence how often people choose to travel in their EVs. I remember driving further than usual last time!

Very true! It shifts the perception of charging from a hassle to a true convenience. I’m planning a long trip as well.

I find it funny how many people still think it’s too complicated to charge. These weekends should really debunk that myth!
