Questions About CA DMV Special License Plates – Help Needed!

I once wanted to go with ‘DEALWITHIT’, but that got shut down! Guess it was too cheeky. :joy: Anyway, make sure your request is straightforward.

I’ve looked into getting special license plates. The initial fee varies but expect around $50 to $100, plus a renewal fee each year of about $40. Definitely check the CA DMV website for specifics!

Great info! Also, some special plates can actually appreciate in value, especially if they’re rare. If you’re investing, look for limited editions!

I got my special plate last year. The renewal comes up soon. So far, I’ve enjoyed it! It adds a unique touch to my car. Just watch out for those hidden fees!

It’s good to hear that you like your plate, @daniel76! Have you found that many people notice it, or has it added value in any way?

From what I’ve gathered, specialty plates often have a specific fee that goes to causes you care about. Just make sure you’re ready for the annual renewal.

That’s true! But I wonder if the annual fees outweigh any added resale value in the long run. Anyone had experience with that?

I’ve been considering the resale potential too. I think plates like ‘Hollywood’ or special color designs get more attention. But, does it really pay off?

Haha, I’d just want a plate that says ‘I have a cool plate’! But are we seriously considering plates as investments?

I think it can be reflective of personal style. But if you’re spending more initially for potential resale, it’s wise to consider how often you’ll actually use the plate versus just putting it away.
