Anyone wrapped their Rivian R1S in matte black? Let's see those pics!

Make sure to avoid automatic car washes! They can ruin the matte finish really quickly. Hand washing is the way to go.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way! My brother told me not to, but I didn’t believe him until I saw the swirls. Ouch!

I’ve had my R1S in matte black for over a year now. Honestly, I’ve had a few chips, but they haven’t affected the look much. It still turns heads!

Glad to hear it’s turning heads, Taylor! Did you have any issues with fading in the sun?

So far, no fading! I park my R1S in the garage most of the time, so that might help. Sun exposure can be brutal on matte finishes!

Omg, that’s awesome! I was afraid it would look dull after a while. Sounds like I might take the plunge!

I actually heard that matte black can fade over time if it’s not protected. Just curious about what kind of protective coating you all use?

Good question! I’ve used a PPF (Paint Protection Film) and it keeps the matte finish looking fresh. It’s a bit expensive but worth it in the long run!

I love the sound of that! I might invest in it for extra protection.

One thing I find hilarious is that people think matte black is the ‘easier’ option! It requires just as much work, if not more!

I wrapped my R1S in matte black last month, and I absolutely love the look! It definitely stands out more than my previous blue color.

Nice choice! I prefer the matte finish as well. It gives such a unique vibe compared to the glossy colors.

I have to agree with evan98! Matte black really enhances the aggressive look of the R1S. How about resale value? Any thoughts?

Resale values tend to favor more conventional colors, but I’ve heard that matte black is becoming more popular in luxury vehicles. It might not hurt resale as much as we think!

I’ve been toying with the idea of going matte black too, but visibility is a concern. How do you all feel driving a darker vehicle?

Visibility can be a concern with matte black, but I think reflective trim or accessories can help. Wouldn’t want to be invisible on the road!

I haven’t had issues, but I do drive cautiously at night! Safety first!

Honestly, if I had an R1S, id go for a bright color. Matte black is cool, but it seems a bit common at this point. Just my two cents!

I get where you’re coming from, Robert! But it really depends on personal taste.

What about maintenance? Does the matte finish show dirt more than other colors? I’m curious!
