Does the auto start/stop affect fuel efficiency? I’ve heard mixed opinions on this.
The idea is that it saves fuel, but I’ve found it annoying in traffic. I’d choose comfort over a tiny gain any day!
It’s all about personal preference. The tutorial is handy, and I’m glad we can manage it so easily now! Thanks for sharing, everyone.
Absolutely! I can’t imagine loving the feature. Just feels like one more thing to think about while driving.
Can anyone explain if these settings reset every time you start the car? I noticed my setting didn’t stay off on one occasion.
From what I’ve seen, the vehicle remembers your last setting. If it’s resetting, maybe there’s a software glitch.
LOL, at times it does feel like the car wants a coffee break! But seriously, the toggle options make it much simpler than before.
Good one! Maybe BMW should add an espresso machine instead of this auto feature.
I appreciate this discussion. The more we share, the easier it gets for other drivers. Thanks for the contributions!
Couldn’t agree more! We all learn together. Nice to see everyone’s experiences shared.
I still find this feature contentious. It’s borderline unnecessary for many drivers. Anyone else feel similarly?
I recently got a 2023 X5, and the auto start/stop feature drives me crazy! Has anyone figured out how to disable it permanently?
I feel you! I’ve been trying to turn it off too, but it seems to reset every time I start the car. Very annoying!
I found that if you press the start/stop button right after you start the engine, it sometimes helps keep it off during that drive. Has anyone else had this luck?
Interesting technique! I’ll give it a try next time. It’s such a hassle when you don’t want it on.
There’s actually a setting in the digital display where you can toggle it off temporarily. It won’t solve the permanent issue, but it helps as a quick fix.
I’ve heard it can behave differently in cold weather. Has anyone noticed that? It wouldn’t turn off even after following the steps!
Yes! My friend said it was a problem when the temps drop. It’s like it has a mind of its own!
Honestly, I just turn it off every time! It’s a quick button press, but I wish it didn’t reset. I guess they want us to save fuel?
If it was always off, more drivers would be happy! It’s frustrating to have to deal with it every time.
